Set in the 1930s, the drama spans several generations of a wealthy Chinese family born in the Straits of Malacca, and revolves around the disputes that surround it. Yue Niang, a strong-willed Nyonya, refuses to be consigned to her childhood status in life and sets out to change her destiny, eventually succeeding as an entrepreneur.
